How Can severe Lower Abdominal Cramps Be Treated?

I am 35 weeks pregnant. At my 20 week ultrasound I was told I was placenta previa and my baby was breech. Since then there has been no mention or concern about this issue which I understand since things can change over time. HOWEVER, I have been experiencing some lower abdominal cramping for the past few weeks. Friday evening I was admitted in to Labor and Delivering for some bright red, not heavy bleeding. I was dilated to a 3, had strong sporadic contractions, but not effaced. An ultrasound was not conducted. I m wondering if there could be a connection between this spotting and the previa.

Hi, I think there is definitely a connection between the spotting and previa. It is very common to have spotting in placenta previa. You can confirm the site of placenta by a ultrasound. Take strict bed rest. Sometimes previa resolves by itself and placenta moves upwards, but in some cases it may persist and in that situation a caesarean is required. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
